Insurance for 718 Cayman S

Hi,

I was was looking at getting some quotes for my 718 Cayman S which arrives in early December. £61k on the road price. Just wondered what sort of ball park figure I might be looking at?
I am 57, no convictions(touch wood!), 1 accident not my fault in last 5 years, car to be garaged and rural Nottinghamshire postcode. Car will only be used as weekend vehicle. Not sure how sensitive the quotes are to mileage, as I have not had a weekend car before, perhaps 5,000 miles cover might be adequate ?

Currently insure with Privilege but would be looking at specialist insurers as I don't want to end up having any repairs done by insurers 'recommended repairer'

Do the specialist insurers cover window screen replacement by PC with OEM parts?

Also wondered about track days, this would only be occasional and after getting used to the car and properly running in the engine.

I know the club use Locktons and I think the Porsche cover is via Marsh.

Has anybody had experiences of insuring a 718 Boxster S recently, as I presume that this would be a similar risk category?

Any insurer will let you choose the garage that repairs your car, but there may be an increased excess in that situation.

Yes, but I think all insurers must use OEM parts on a new car to maintain the manufacturer warranty. That's the assumption I made, and anyway the specialist quotes for me were so high that it would pretty much cover the cost of me buying an OEM screen myself!

That's true, but I don't do track days so can't comment further I'm afraid. Similarly for price quotes you'll need a 718 owner.

For info, I have a Cayman GTS and I'm insured with Direct Line. Way, way cheaper than the specialists for me because it's my only car - even with a 4000 mile per year policy (I work at home).

I'll be embarking on the same exercise soon for my new £64k 718 Cayman S PDK due in late December.

Previously I've been more than happy with Porsche Insurance Services through Marsh Private Clients. I also have my daily driver Abarth 595 competition insured with PIS.

I am 69 and live near Inverness, the car is garaged, and has the tracker activated.

My Comprehensive policy, owner driver only, with the above for 2015/16 for my previous Cayman R manual, maximum 10,000 miles annually, was £262 pa with a £460 excess.

I require a 10k mileage limit due to my location being distant from everywhere, except the far north and west of Scotland's beautiful driver's roads of course.

This included cover for two Porsche Club track days annually with a 10% of car value excess. A £20 admin charge was payable per track day cover. Windscreen cover at £75 excess and Porsche Approved body shops included.

I had excellent service from Marsh Private Clients and intend contacting them again for a quote on my new 718 CS.

I'm waiting until November before obtaining my quote. I'll post the result in due course.

Having just renewed my insurance on a slightly older 09 S I thought I'd share my experience. Previously I was covered through Locktons (Chubb)on the club scheme but felt a £750 renewal fee was a bit steep. I'm 54 no convictions or accidents looking for 7-10k miles plus track days and choice of repairer the car is currently on the driveway and an RG24 postcode.

The value baseline was LV at £350 to gauge the premium for the add ones, thinking £200 for stand alone track day cover. AIB came out at £479 but don't include track day cover. Bridle ticked all the boxes but limited to two track days at £679.

Manning came out top at £612 with no limit on track days so long they are ATDO affiliated which is a step up over the club scheme, limited to 7k miles and cover through Amlin. Service was good they called back when they said they would, hopefully I don't have test out their claims process efficiency.

Oh make sure you check the terms for track related damage or total loss.

So off to Castle Combe again later this month, fully covered.

i purchased a 981 boxster 2013 plate around 4 months ago ,before that i had a 2006 boxster,i had a renewal quote off my insurance(one with the ship)about 3 months ago and it had jumped to £670 from £320,shopped around and got it with the firm i insure my bikes with (hastings direct) got it for £370 .it pays to shop around.

Recently picked up our Boxster 718S PDK from Zuffenhausen. Insured with Admiral at £319 inc protected NCB, and MLP.

Policy also includes 90 days European cover pa.

I won't be "tracking" my car.

How many miles does the Cayman policy cover?

The 90 days inclusive European cover is useful.

What was the Zuffenhausen pick up like? I thought about it but due to work commitments it was not an option.
