Hiyall,
The door chime when the lights are on has bitten the dust. Not sure if I've fouled up a wire when I recently refurbished the window lifter mechanism or if the speaker has just decided to die of old age.
There are replacement speakers available, and I'm skilled enough with a soldering iron to do the job . . . but I'd rather know that that's the job I need to do before setting about dismantling the rear of my instrument cluster. It's one of those - 'I don't mind doing it, BUT I'd rather not do it if I don't have to' (a very condition dependent laziness on my behalf)
Does anyone know how to test the function of the speaker first ie: is there a circuit I can temporarily bridge to simulate a door open, engine off, lights on condition so that if the chime doesn't sound I know the fault is between the bridge and the speaker and not further back along the circuit? (ie: if it chimes I then know it's a fault with the senor wiring and not the speaker - 'cause it might even be the light switch starting to fail, which is a much easier repair)
Cheers
