Morning All,
I've been a PCGB Member for nearly 18 months now, I bought my 2011 987.2 2.9 Boxster back in June 2018 and have done lots of things with R24 Cambs and Beds.

I did my first modification back in February this year which was having the standard exhaust Gundo'd by DW Performance in Wellingborough, this involved having a 1.5 inch bypass pipe put in just before the silencer to the tail pipe. This transformed the sound of the car.

Since then I may been on Multiple Cannon Runs and this has given me the confidence to do more things to the car...as you can see in the Picture at the end of August the car went off to S6 Wraps in Essex to be half wrapped with Martini Racing Livery and the Wheels / Callipers painted Red. This was Phase 1 of Project Boxster.

Project Boxster - Phase 2
For the last few months I have spent a long time looking at all of the different performance and tuning options that can be done to my 2.9 Boxster and after speaking to a few manufacturers for clarity especially IPD I put together my stage 2 package. My friends at Bee Cool Performance and Motorsport in Kettering are going to put it all together and then do a remap on the car to finish it off.

As the car is now 8 years old who knows how much the car is making BHP wise it could still be making 256BHP or less, although it had no problems beating a 220BHP VXR on my last airfield run [:D]
My research tells me that the car should be able to make roughly 295 BHP once all fitted and dialed in.

Paid for the components yesterday and the car goes in on the 5th October and I'll have her back on the 11th October so i'm pretty excited.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your car and treating it and yourself to some customisation and modifications. I don't have any direct experience of the 987.2 ECU but assume it is more easily remapped than the later 981 was in the early days.

My only thought on the mods would be on the Eibach springs and whether the spring rate is suitable. Generally the spring rate is indicated by the last digits on the part number so maybe 22 N/mm? Are the springs the same rate front and rear? The 981 Cayman S manual (as do all Porsche sports cars) came out of the factory with different front v rear spring rates, in this case 22 N/mm front and 38 N/mm rear.

Will you be having them set up the suspension back to stock alignment values or more aggressive settings?

Hi Ralph,

From looking about at the amount of tuners that offer tuning, I would say yes. EVOMSit, Softronic, FVD and Cobb seem to get some good numbers out when the car has had the right modifications. So time will tell how my car does.

This is my first time modifying. So have no idea about your second point, my selection was based on reading lots of different posts on forums such as Boxa.net and Planet-9 where lots of 987 Boxsters & Caymans have had the same modifications, The 2 options that were favored were the Eibach and the H&R. Some of the reviews thought the H&R Springs could be too harsh were as the Eibach were seen to compliment the standard setup of the Boxsters & Caymans.

Had a look around about Spring Rates and there isn't a lot of information, I did find this on rennlist though

987 non-PASM: F = 27 N/mm, R = 37 N/mm (This is what mine would be) 987 w/ PASM: F = 33 N/mm, R = 46 N/mm, -10mm ride height 987 Cayman R: F = 30 N/mm, R = 43 N/mm, -20mm ride height Eibach: F = 18-34 N/mm, R = 26-50 N/mm, -30mm ride height

I'm seeing Bee Cool Performance on Sunday @ The Sharnbrook for Petrolheadonism's Supercar Funday so I will speak to him about alignment, I've presumed back to stock alignment. My car is more focused to fast road driving than track...for the moment. Luckily for me, I know that Bee Cool know what they are doing and will give me the right setup for my car.

Thanks for your points though, I knew the alignment would need redoing but hadn't considered it could be adjusted to be more aggressive as I am just replacing the springs and not put adjustable dampers on like the Bilstein PSS9, Ohlins, KW etc. Just don't have the budget at the moment to go much further that what I put in my original post.

Thanks, I have a Cannon Run on the 30th November, which will be driving Birmingham to London via the Cotswolds over two days so there will be plenty of roads to test the setup [:)]

Bee Cool estimate a 3rd Power Increase which would be about 325BHP, realistically I think it is probably sitting at about 300BHP based on other cars that have had similar work done.

Everything that has been fitted is as above except for the Lowering Springs, the Eibachs ended up being on a 3 week back order so I had the H&R Springs fitted with the same spec. Only driven car twice since done, sounds amazing and really pulls at the top end but was too wet to really drive properly. This Saturday will be the real test as it'll get a proper drive out with Region 24.

Car looks so much better after the drop and so far except for slowing down a bit for the speed bumps haven't found it any else comfortable.
