Immobilisers

The insurer of my Macan GTS (2025 model) is demanding that a third party immobiliser is fitted to the vehicle. The car already has the Porsche factory fit immobiliser and, of course, the Thatcham S5 tracker, but I have very little option but to adhere to the insurer’s demand.

Given that there are a plethora of devices, I’d be interested to hear what people have fitted (by way of immobiliser only, as I already have the tracker) to their Macan or indeed any other higher end vehicle.

Thand you.

Hi Wapping

Be careful fitting any third party device to your Macan as this may affect your manufacturers warranty. Seems unusual for an insurance company to demand a third party immobiliser to be fitted. Maybe worth seeking an alternative insurer.

Or ask them what they mean by a third party immobiliser and that fitting one may well invalidate your warranty. I assume you told them it already had an immobiliser fitted?

Suggest speak to your OPC to see what they offer, as this should address any warranty concern.

An additional Thatcham approved immobiliser is a frequent requirement and experienced this several times since the 993 days.

Unfortunately an immobiliser didn't stop this happening which was nearly £3k worth of damage. Also I now have a crook lock as the Macan is nearly as desirable as a Range Rover so you need a visual deterrent.
My Porsche Centre agreed to uphold the warranty with the Ghost fitted

You definitely need a visual deterrent to stop entry and trashing your motor. A flashing dash cam may help as well as the Disclock etc. I have a vodafone alarm which phones me if the doors are open by someone else.
