Immobiliser question

Hi all,

as the heading says, I have an odd happening when setting my immobiliser, when I use the fob (1998 C4S factory fit) it goes through the motions, but when the red light in centre console, after about a min, slows to a steady beat, my hazard lights come on but no alarm noise, car has been in the garage for all of winter until now with the battery disconnected, starts, runs, no other problems, any thoughts ?

May be ...

  • An open lid (front or back)?

I hadn't noticed I'd left the back lid unlatched (but almost closed). Spent hours diagnosing various flashing indicator lights.

Little update

Checked all doors, boot and engine lid are shut, still the same problem, spoke with Hamilton & Palmer very helpful, they gave me a way of telling what was causing the fault by using the ignition key and fob, by turning on the ignition and within 10 seconds press the raised button on the remote handset once and the indented button three times, (4 presses in total) this will recall the last 5 triggers allowing you to read the LED (centre console) flashes, theses range from 2 flashes in succession to 6 flashes in succession, mine came up with 5 flashes which indicates Ultrasonic triggered, I will now contact them again tomorrow to see if there is an easy fix, will keep all updated.

After talking to Hamilton & Parker again they have confirmed it is a PA1000 system not the PA2000 as I thought, re the Ultrasonic, the box is under the drivers seat, some have adjustment for the level of sensitivity, mine does not, so as a temporary measure I was advised to pull out the multi plug and retry the system, low and behold all is well, Hamilton & Parker can supply a replacement as they still have some on the shelf, regarding not having an alarm siren, it turns out that I have, the dam thing has been turned off since I have had the car, it is housed in the engine compartment on the left hand side, it has to be unlocked with a key that was in my pack and never knew what it was for, works a treat, so all's well that ends well, thanks for all the input.
