Hi again, As per previous post, my car is in the bodyshop at present. I just had a call to say that the battery had gone flat, and that after recharging it the immobiliser didn't want to work - the red light on the console isn't flashing and no beeps when inserting the immobiliser "key" thingy. Consequently they can't start the car. I've had a flat battery before but don't remember any issues with the immobiliser arising, but has anyone seen this? I've suggested disconnecting the battery again for a few minutes and then reconnecting to see if it resets it, but beyond that I'm lost. It's the factory device, I've fitted a new socket on the column shroud because the old one was worn, so it's not just the mechanic not having "the knack", it normally works fine. Any ideas/suggestions welcome. How hard is it to circumvent the immobiliser?

Steve just had the same fault on my 911 , The only way I found was to call out a alarm specialist in the end, taken him 10 minutes to find the immobilizer and take it out, now waiting on a new alarm to come in, He charged me £20 for the call out and disconnection
He thought the immobilizer had blown a resister when I put the charger on, anyway it was over 20 years old so needed a revamp

Thanks for the input - things have developed now - the garage put their electrician on it and it seems the immobiliser unit is fried - so they're deleting it and leaving me a note of where the connections have been remade so that I can get a new one if required. Much the same boat as yours by the sound of it!
