I want gleaming wheels!

Right guys........do I use metal polish or wonder wheels or what on my Fusch wheels?

The shiny bit (centres painted black) are coated in spots of tar. How do I safely remove this without damaging the wheels?

Many thanks.

Autoglym tar remover, then some Mer Alloy wheel cleaner and then I would wax them with Zymol cleaner wax and buff to a glorious shine [:D] All of these products are fairly inexpensive and can be purchased from halfords... I wouldn't use metal polish as it will be too corse for the painted sections and even on the polished sections they are likely to have been clear laquered which the metal polish will destroy

I wouldn't recommend any type of alloy wheel cleaner. Just use soapy water.

Assuming your wheels are original and still anodised, Autoglym is probably okay (but a lot of their products are petroeum based), but I use Zymol HD Cleanse on the centres and a bit of metal polish on the rims. The final trick is to lightly rub Vaseline all over the rims and centres.

If you want concours, another tip is the permanent black marker pen on the edges of the wheel nuts to bring them up like new.

Can't say that I have ever seen laquered Fuchs wheels, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I have been known to use cutting polish, which tends to be quite mild and works a treat; and, sometimes, used metal polish (carefully) - the anodised coating will rapidly return of it's own accord (just add air/oxygen). I polish the spokes with car polish (Zymol), and touch up the nuts with black touch up paint.

ok ok i'm an idiot... but the zymol polish and tar remover should still work but the Zymol cleaner was does has a micro polishing action which you may find does the job fine in their own right. Sorry for the completely **** advice :)

Hardly an idiot if those are you wheels in the avatar Gary, post a pic of the car. I've used neat washing up liquid to remove tar before now now, like Tim I highly recommend vaseline for Fuchs spokes. Apply and leave on for 24 hours, wipe off and the paint is de-oxidized and new looking.

Bones...

No problem more pics available on request... or check out the car in our forum here or in the renntech garage

Thanks, i love my custom carerras...
