.....that I didn't have a Porker with me (that's the Porsche content....)

What wonderful roads and scenery you have compared to us in the south!!!

Just been working in and around Dumfries (Southerness)-Edinburgh-Glasgow (Kilmacolm) and some splendid driving roads and scenery.
Looked splendid on Thursday with a smattering of snow on the tops, but p1ssing down most of the time!! [;)] (And M6 in the Lakes 'passable with care' on Saturday morning due snow!!)

If you can promise sunshine, I'd take a summer holiday up there!!!

I will bare that in mind -17/7 it is then!!

Oh yes, I forgot those midges -watched them land on the netting on the door of the motorhome in Galloway three years ago, crawl thru, then carry on inside!! Is there nothing that stops these things? Even jungle strength mozzy repellant didn't seem to deter the little boogers!!

I recommend the beginning of July. Bush and Blair are closing my golf course for 2 weeks and are liable to bring 10000s of protesters to the G8. They plan to close all the main roads in Scotland and prevent the support staff getting to Gleneagles.

Good time to visit ;O)

us locals use flamethrowers - only thing that sorts out the little buzzing bstds[]

Used to live in Kilmacolm. The road between there and Lochwinnoch was great fun and usually not too busy.

Having now moved back to Scotland, am living over in North Berwick and the roads around there are great, unfortunately can get a bit busy. But then I have the golf courses to content myself with[:D]

My folks still live in Bridge of Weir (next village up the road from Kilmacolm)

yes the roads are good compared to dahn sarf, but for real roads you need to go further North. Run up the A93 (much mentioned in car mags) on a good day with limited traffic = driving heaven. [8D]

NO NO NO NO NO [] ... You've got ot all wrong[]

The roads in Scotland are narrow and badly surfaced, with gatso's on every corner. The people are unpleasant, the midges suck your blood, and it rains every day. Eating porrige is compulsory, the Japanese now make far superior whisky, and of course Gordon Brown comes from up here. You really wouldn't like it. [:'(]

You are far better advised to stick to clean open tarmac for your fun ... I believe the M25 is particularly good, or perhaps the M6 through Birmingham, but regrettably we don't get such excellent roads up here. You lucky, lucky southerners should stay where you are! [:D][:D]

Me? ... off to Sutherland in the 964 shortly ... well, someone has too [:D]

PS Elliot, please stop spreading rumours about Scotland being nice, you are ruining our reputation [:D][:D][:D]

John is right. I have to go to Belgium on the ferry to find some good roads. ;O)

Avoid cluttering up our roads. The locals will run you off them!

Laird told by father in law that she bagged a brace in the Alvis. He later found out she had run 2 English drivers(could have been from anywhere though) off the road as they failed to recognise her car on the single track! True story, happen in the last couple of weeks.
