How Do You Switch The BLOODY Radio Off!!??

Hi,

This is a really embarrasing question but I have just bought a Cayman S (2008) which has Sat Nav with extended module and whenever I switch the trip function on, the radio or CD player comes on. Which is starting to annoy me. So I have to mute it every time and then if I park up and start the engine again it comes on again and I have to mute it (again). Is it possible to switch the trip or any other functions on without the radio/CD player kicking in everytime???

If you do not want the radio on when you select trip etc, try tuning one of the radio presets to a frequency that doesn't pick up anything, then providing your radio is set to that preset, no sound.

Hi, Yeah there is a mute option but you have to use it every time you start the engine, I thought there must be an easier way to just shut it off and then switch it back on when you want it on! Regards, Shiraz

Hi there, I've took delivery of a Cayman a week ago and have specifically joined this forum to ask this same question, how do you turn the radio off without turning off the whole PCM? But from the replies it looks as though you can't! My dealer suggested switching to the CD player when there's no CD in, but I can't seem to select the CD player unless there's a CD in. Oh well, annoying though it is, I guess it doesn't spoil the driving experience. Cheers, UKRoman

Presumably yours has PCM 2.1? It's been a little while since I had one of those but I seem to remember it's similar to the 3.0 in the respect that it "remembers" the last volume setting before you switch off? So if your volume is cranked down to zero that's where it will stay until you turn it up so even if the radio is on you won't have to listen to it! Of course if that all rubbish then it's me that doesn't remember and not the PCM![]

Perhaps try a blank CD-R....with luck it might just wizz round playing nothing!!
