How do you remove door trim panel?

I'm new to this forum and Porsche ownership. I bought a '99 996 C4 a few weeks a go and I'm slowly getting round to sorting a few niggles, one of which is the passenger door window, which isn't mounted in its rail properly (there's a 1cm gap between it and the rear window and it wont wind all the way down into the door). The door gaps are fine btw.

Yesterday I tried to remove the door trim panel to re-mount the window in the rail but gave up after an hour because I couldn't figure out how it comes off.

If you look at the attached pic from the workshop manual, step 3 says to remove the bowden cable and an electrical connector before removing the door panel. But you can't get to the bowden cable without removing the door panel. Not that I can see anyway. I got as far as unpopping the panel from the door but it still seemed to be firmly attached at the top. Has anyone taken the door panel off before? Do you have to remove the bowden cable before the trim panel? What holds the trim panel on at the top? Any pics/videos/links?
