Holding revs steady at 2000 rpm?

You can't on mine at the moment !!

You can press the pedal and hold the revs at any level below 1600, but you can't hold them at 1800 "" the engine accelerates to 2400+ on its own with no movement on the pedal. Taking your foot off the pedal is worse "" revs just drop off.

OPC told me today "this is normal for the car". I really can't believe that.

Any help or guidance out there?
 
Shane without asking for more detail - I reckon this could normal too....

I've had two 993's now and they are both hard to fix at a certain rev - especially further down the rev range.

you have a ultra-responsive engine there with a light flywheel!
 
Cheers Kenny - perhaps this is the case then, especially given the lack of responses along the lines of "of course you shoudl be able to hold the revs steady" !

On a different note, I'm not particularly happy with the OPC service this time - I've just taken the car back again following a rather strange recommendation for the clutch. I'll have to work out what I do next year, or when the steering needs looking at again.

A general squeak the whole length of travel of the clutch and a louder squeak/"ping" noise halfway down (at the biting point.)

The recommendation was a new Slave Cylinder. When I got home to put the bill away, I checked what had been done last year on the clutch ... ah, a new Slave Cylinder under warranty!! [FYI - The clutch was new 3 years ago - 12k ish miles]

So, back to the OPC where a second dignosis was 1) a general squeak at the pedal mounting: could just grease it (but it takes sometime to find it apparently - buried under the boards at the front) but if it isn't annoying don't worry, and 2) just some rusting / corrosion on the metal prongs/forks of the clutch which can happen if the car is "ocassional use". Nothing really to worry about.

What do you reckon ?
