New member
just about to buy a cayman and have one question to do with the garage equipment they use to diagnose and read/alter fault codes.
can anybody tell me what this system is called?
the reason i ask is i have a VCDS/VAGCOM application which is used for audi cars and if this is not the one they use on porsche's then i will flog it.

Porsche Centres use the PIWIS diagnostic system but many individuals and Indys use the Durametric diagnostic tool: http://www.durametric.com/default.aspx Jeff
 
Does anyone in the midlands have a PIWIS or know of somewhere who will do the changes to my window program for when I open the hatch? I have the listing as provided by Richard to the forum.
 
I am London based but will be at the workers conference and AGM in April (I have a PIWIS) It was I who gave Richard the programming codes for the Cayman and originally posted them on Planet-9 some years ago. I assume you are interested in the window drop when then rear hatch is opened so you can easily shut it without the bounce.
 
That's right Nick, I'm there too, I take it you will be driving the Boxster, it's fairly recognisable. As is my Cayman due to the interior.[:D]

Assuming winter has finally finished I will be there in the Orange beast !

I'll be there both days and will put the PIWIS in the boot. Curious .... as you have a 2007 car do your windows open or close with the remote if you keep the button pressed ?
 
Yes they do, so did my 2000 Boxster S 986 and a 2003 986 S that my son had, I know it can be reprogrammed to not operate etc but since I changed the buttons on my key it hasn't been a problem. Why do you ask?

The only reason I mentioned was that Porsche disabled it on some 2007-2008 cars as owners were complaining that the windows were opening by themselves ...... the real fix was a combination of the new buttons on the key fob and a longer delay before the windows move. As yours still work you are unaffected and it also makes coding the rear hatch/window drop a whole lot quicker.
