Help with offset

Can you gents help? I have looked through all by 944 books and drivers manual but cannot seem to find what the offset should be for the wheels on my 'S'
1987 E registered and a 1988 MY build.

Thanks.

I believe it is 52.3, the same as a 944 lux.

On the later cars ( post square dash) I believe only the S2 and Turbo had a different offset and more sticky out brakes of course.

I only found this out becuase I checked up as I had a new set of Boxster alloys and tyres
in my garage that fit a 944 lux or an 'S'. I still need to pick up a nice lux (or ess) to put them on lol

Regards

Mas

the 1986 lux (oval dash) has the early et23 offset. I think the 86 turbo and later lux has the 52.3 offset

You are right of course, a non MO30 Turbo also has 52.3 , it just fouls some wheels that will fit on an 's' because of the brakes. Thats exactly how I came to be stuck with a set of wheels and tyres [:)]

The exact offset will vary depending upon the rim width.

944man has this in his head I think, as 52mm is the standard offset for the '86 on N/A models ie 7" rims, the offset for 8" rims needs to be 13mm greater, approx 65mm (half of the extra rim width) or an extra 25mm (77mm total for 9" rims).

Sure Simon will be along later to correct me[:)]

Hi Edd,

Yes after 10 years of my 18"s now that I am getting out in her more these days, to be honest I am tired of the awful handling and tramling.

I like the look of my sport design,s but it is time to change

Ed,

To be honest I have not even thought about either selling or a price as yet, I will let you know, if that is ok?

Thanks Mike,

I think I would like to go for 16" rather than the 15" so do I go for 7" front & 8" rear or is 9" rear possible?

On an N/A I would go with 7" and 8", 9" will fit I think but you may need to roll the arches.

My 2.7 is on 7" and 8" x 16" which seem to fit the car pretty well.

Mike,

I will have to chat to you at Rutland, I am thinking about these from Design911 only in 16"s

Any thoughts welcome, I realise they are replicas, would like these but can't stretch at the moment as she is in at OPC for the belts in a couple of weeks

That new set wont fit for certain, I'm afraid and although I cant quite make out the offset on the refurbed ones, I suspect they wont either. I've not seen any original Fuchs that will.

Fuchs look great when they have some depth to them, like an old 911 or early 944, but they wont fit the later 944s and replicas which will fit dont have the depth!

Do Design911 make 7J x16" ET 52ish or 8J x16" ET 65ish? I couldn't see them on the web site.

I've had the 2.7 on 6"x15" and didn't like it! I think Porsche got it about right with 7/8J x16 rims for the N/A cars.

Really looking forward to Rutland! See you there.

Having said all that, a friend had some of the new 19" Fuchs on his 997 Targa, which did look really good
