Hi guys, something on my boot release motor has broken! I can't describe it very well so ive taken a photo!
I can't find any mention of it on any parts list, and all the motors on ebay seem to be missing this part! It's connected to the top of the motor and the boot release cable is connected to it. WHAT IS IT!?? And where can i get one or do i need to buy a new motor to get one??

Thanks guys this has been driving me nuts im 6 foot 3 and climbing into the boot from the inside and opening it manually is not fun!! [&:]

Cheers Ross

Ross,

Sorry for my exceedingly unhelpful answer - I really should stop winding people up! [;)]

It is indeed the boot motor release arm, and they commonly break. There was a thread here about the cost of them about 6 or 7 months ago, and how the price has rocketed (from about £6 to nearer £60, IIRC.)

I've never had one break, but I am sure it would be possible to make a new one, or possibly repair the old one (although aluminium welding is specialist, a local friendly metalwork company would quite possibly do it for you for a tenner or so.)

Or see if you can find one from a breaker, with the understanding that it may be on its last legs as well ...

Haha, it didnt wind me up i thought it was quite funny! Nothing could wind me up today, ive just got my car back from having a new water pump and stat fitted and its all fine!
Christ £60 for that! What a joke!
Okay i'll probably go for the breakers option and keep my fingers crossed with it then!
Cheers Ross

Ross,

Don't take my word for it - call an OPC. I may be way wide of the mark. Exeter is usually the OPC of choice - mention PCGB and you'll get a good discount.

Keep us posted with the results.

Right, i've ordered a new one from exeter opc....for....£30 with free postage..would have been £36 + postage without the club mention...think its worth it so i dont have to worry about a 2nd hand one breaking again! Thanks very much oli!!
