Help me choose a year.

Hey guys,
Im looking to pick my wife up a used Boxter but Im not sure what year would be best. I dont know much about them. If someone could give me a web site or give me a breif idea of the diff. model year.Or maybe just what years to stay away from and what year would be a better model.

There notmuch difference in years until you go post september 2002 as that the facelift boxster.

The advanatge of looking at years is to see whether he car is still under warranty which gives piece of mind if buying from an indivual.

I have just bought a 2002 model 2.7 from a Dealer for 34500. But it was fully loaded.

I really regert going to a Porshe main dealer as similar cars are avilable for 30 k.


My reasons were that i had to part ex against a BMW Z4 so went to a Porsche garage who gave me a part ex of 32500 whch was what i paid for the car.


If i had 34500 again i would do this.

If you dont mind buying from a private indivuial i would go for 2002 02 plate or 2002 51 plate, as this still has balance of porsche warranty. You can get these fro sub 30k.

If you want to to buy from a dealer any year is ok as they come with warranty.

Pre 1999 the engine was just a 2.5 and i have seen a fe for under 20k.

In 1999 a 2.7 and 3.2 was relased with 220 and 252 BHP.

You also have the option of going for a 2002 52 reg car. This called a "2003" model. Porsche always do this based on the preceding september. So a "2002" model car is one from september 2001 to August 2002. So there are cars called "2001" car and then "2002" car. Usually any new bits or changes to a car are done in september and then released.

Teh advantage if going for a 2002 52 or the "2003" model is that is slighly improved with glass screen rear hood and increased power from 220 to 227 for the 2.7 car and 252 to 260BHP for the 3.2 car.
 
Depends what you want. Get your shopping list together and a budget. Personally I would want leather seats and climate, but past that who cares! Well, not me. It's a great car whatever year and I am not fussed about which facelift you want, a Boxster is a Boxster, and although I would crave an S I just know somehow my licence would be languishing at Swansea.

Colour is important too, this includes the ineriors. Obvioulsy you can be open, that is okay, but you tend to find that the choice becomes a bit blurred.

Where you buy it from, as Raj says, is kinda crucial to the price .... BUT do not forget the golden rules: Fully stamped service book and all the bills. If an OPC has done any accident damage then you can rest easy.

Be warned, a damsel in Boxster ... need I say more!! Now I know a place that does a lovely deal on Skodas ....
