Help Locking Wheel Nuts.

Peeps,
I split my soft socket which i use fro taking on and off my wheels, bought a new on from Frazerpart and binned the old one, but i suspect the locking wheel nut socket went with it ........................AARGH !
I cannot find it anywhere, they are the Porsche alloy type which has a socket with selection of indents to fit the nut, not the key type as that would be easy peasy.
The wheels are minty Cup 1's which had a total refurb last year and i do not want them marked how the flip[ do i get them off, any tyre centres to be trusted ?
May try a few tomorrow but will stipulate do NOT try if they think that they may mark the wheels.

Not too clear, I know: but most pictures were of bolts (which are far easier to remove).
 
I did a similar thing years ago [:(] If they are Porsche locking nuts then each OPC has a full set. Pop along to Kendal and they should let you try them all till you get the right one
 
They were the original Porsche type socket nut with random indents, anyways off to Kwif Fit who lat me have their locking wheel bolt removal kit, the deputy manager Tony stating they had not had too much luck with them.
methinks the nuts are alloy so the lefthand thread should get a good bite on them, tried one of the fronts and you could feel the "grip" surprise surprise it came free,....................But i could not get the firmly bitten original away from the extractor, off to Mikes (944 Turbo SE and 964 Celebration) who has a really good garage set up.
Into the vice and turned out to have a real good hold but got it off, No2 front came off also but the top sheared off in the vice when trying to get it off in the vice !
A junior hacksaw citting into the body of the nut after having punched the cap through finally got it out.
Righto to the rear !
Bugger big style !........... the extractor got a good grip but then sheared off leaving the base of the wheel nut on the wheel.............................Wonderful ! same with No 4 .
Plan C knock a socket onto No 1 wheel stud to see if it would "bite" it did, so masked the wheel and hole off and knocked a socket on to the remaining ones, squeaky bum stuff ! sure enough it shifted both of them............YEE HA !
Now replaced with a standard alloy nut all round.
What came to light was that Porsche have machined a shear point into the locking wheel nuts so that they cannot be removed with this type of method and will shear off as designed
 
Cheers Paul, lots of making tape in strategic places and lots of sympathy sorted it.............clever old Porsche with their Shearing Point it must have took us 2 hours with a workshop at hand.

Gave Mike permission to knock a socket on after a trial run as a trip to Kendal OPC was on the cards though i know they would have looked after me, days leave from work saved i suppose.............and some satisfaction.

I put a coating of DO DO Juice dark hard wax on Mikes Celebration in between brainstorming, his car is Viola and looks stunning, his 89 944 Turbo SE will probably be about the best in the country (I have first dibs)

Devine it is going to Le Mans Classic you will see what i mean.......................genuinely looks 12 months old
 
Fond memories of walking past THe Kendal OPC on longpool on the way to school most days (folks moved to Kendal in 83, although I left for the NE in 90)

It was walking past that dealership the started my love of Porsche's seeing them most days made a promise to myself at 16 that's I'd have one one day, took 14 years to get my first one though lol

Back down there on the 2/3rd July in fact for a school reunion
 
Ive got the same problem right now! Also tried knocking a socket onto the nut and the top of it sheared off, clearly designed to do so, tried it on another nut with an impact wrench on low setting but it still sheared it off!! I'm not quite sure what you did to get them off. Did you knock a socket over the ring thats left or remove the stud itself from the hub?
 
Hope you weren't glowing in the dark after you left Mike's garage.

That is a lovely 964 Celebration he has. I watched him washing the flies off the front at the R18 Concours on the 23rd.

Fred I work at the same place as Mike, more chance of me glowing in the dark as i deal with the serious stuff !
Barks the shear point is machined in to the stud above the indents so that it shears leaving the indented section in place, and the wheel firmly in place !
The first one came of whole so we knocked a slightly under size socket on to it and checked that it had a good hold, it did so we transferred this method to the two rears and sure enough it did the trick.
Check the OPC as mentioned on here they may carry the full range of available configurations and will shift them for you, no more locking nuts for me, i have taken them off the 220 now as the cars are never left anywhere for michief to occur 99.9% of the time in the garage.
Took them off my Landy also.
