Just taken delivery of my MY12 Cayman R PDK in Peridot Green, came out of an Audi R8 V8 and my first experience of a (modern) Porsche.
First impressions are good, obviously not as powerful or quick as the R8, and the brakes take some adjusting to, you actually have to stamp on the pedal to get the thing to stop - where the R8 was very 'digital' in terms of stopping.
However, really impressed overall with the Cayman R - PDK box seems much smoother than the Audi R-Tronic, plus now makes shopping a little more fun (or any excuse to nip out for a drive0 - could never have fitted the weekly shop in the R8 (why would you?) but the double 'boot' on the Porsche made it a doddle.
Quick question, anyone taken up the offer of the free drivers day at Silverstone? Is it any good? I live 500+ miles away so it's a major undertaking to go down for this and wouldn't want to bother if it's just another track 'experience' day - had plenty of those - ideally I'd like to be able to learn a little about the car and it's handling at illegal speeds
Looking forward to the next 2 years and we'll see how I'm feeling about the Porsche owning experience by then.
Cheers, Colin
