Hello everyone!

Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself as I've just recently signed up to the Porsche Club. I'm currently (im)patiently waiting for the notification that my 992.2 GTS is being built after putting an order in around 18 months ago.

I'm sure I'm not alone, but I've been massively indecisive about the colour for the car and keep flitting between lugano blue, gentian blue or a british racing green. My personal preference is Lugano blue but given this is a car I've been dreaming about for most of my life I'm a little worried that going with the brighter colour will attract too much (of the wrong sort of) attention and wondered if anyone with a similarly bright paint colour has any real-life experience of what it's like living with it?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

Gareth (but everyone calls me G)

Also, it's not overly clear but how does one get added to the 992 sub forum?

Iā€™ve been told that deliveries to customers should start around march / April time. Apparently Iā€™m 5th in the queue at my local branch šŸ˜

Welcome to the Forum and never worry about bright colours! I've had many Guards Red and currently Python Green 911's and no issues and plenty of compliments.

That's a relief! Then I'm going to stick to my guns and go with the Lugano blue! Thanks!

Welcome! Lovely choice of model.
(current 2024 992.1 4GTS owner with poorly centre locking wheel nuts).

Oh no! Anything to bear in mind? What colour did you opt for on yours?
Mine is standard white with the black GTS wheels. It was a heavily spec'd car already in the dealer (lots of exclusive manufaktur options ticked). May have opted for ice white if i was spec'ing from scratch or perhaps Shark Blue.
Also had it fully PPF's at Topaz including windscreen and the glass roof (sun roof) - not sure i'd do that again!

Why would you not PPF again?

Why would you not PPF again?
Mainly because it wasn't done very well (it's been back two or three times) and it's more hassle trying to resolve and Bristol is a PITA to get back and forth to.

I also question whether the circa Ā£7-8k i spent on it (i had full car including windscreen, sun roof, halo ceramic coating on top of the PPF, wheels, other glass and interior and also had the piano black interior around the gear selector PPF'd) is good value for a car I'm likely to only keep for 2 or 3 years doing perhaps max 5k miles per year (i'm looking at maybe covering 3k miles in it's first year).

Just to follow up on this thread, I took our local dealership's 992.2 GTS out for a spin this morning on some very icy roads! Their demo car was a GTS 4 Targa, so fairly heavy compared to the car I've ordered. It was hard to put the car through its paces fully, as the winter mode meant that the onboard computer was thinking twice about some exuberance involving the right foot but I could definitely pickup the lack of turbo lag compared to the 992.1 GTS.

I took the demo car on country lanes and the motorway and could feel the additional weight (putting it down to it being four wheel drive AND a targa) in the corners but it still stuck like glue, especially with the rear-wheel steering kicking in. It's soooo quiet when the sports exhaust mode is off and it handled UK roads (or lack of) pretty well too! Steering felt particularly heavy when parking, so I guess the demo car didn't opt for that addon but that was the only negative from the experience.

A few reviews online from journos had suggested that you could feel the regen on the braking and to be honest, it felt like any other car so I'm not sure what they were picking up. That being said, most vids I've seen of journos were them taking it round tracks rather than normal roads so maybe it's more pronounced when carrying more speed etc.

It's a fantastic bit of kit. Still pleased I have one on order, still undecided on my final colour choice šŸ˜±

Welcome! āœ‹šŸ¼

Lovely spec and well thought out

However, I would go bold and plump for Cartagena (far too many blues on the road) and you'll be in a new 911 so you'll hardly be able to drive around incognito.

Personally, I would be thinking twice about Night View Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, would definitely ditch Fire Extinguisher, Lifting System Front Axle and 4 Way Sports Seat and add front Adaptive Sports seats Plus, electrical 18-ways with memory package with ventilation.

Just a little more food for thought!šŸ‡šŸ˜ƒ

Regards,

Clive
PS. I've revised this post as Lane Change Assist is good, Lane Keep Assist - bad.

I have had my first 911, a 992.1 4S in white since almost new. Bought as a pre registered from Bristol with a photo which suggested it had 999 miles on the clock but when I went to pick it up, turned out it was only 99.9miles. Bought it as a daily with a set of winters that I am now selling. Absolutely loved every minute of ownership although itā€™s only done 30k. its currently under offer selling via The Autolounge.

I put my deposited for a 992 in Jan 2023 but was holding out for a 992.2. i picked up my 992.2 4 GTS just before Christmas and as I just keep it on the drive, Iā€™m now waiting the 4ā€ of snow to melt before I take it out again. It was the first GTS that the OPC had in but I saw they have just taken delivery of a Targa last week.

Clive, agree with your comments on options with the exception of the front axle lift. I didnā€™t have that with my 991.1 but still managed to have the slightest scrape in a steep decline. The GTS is 10mm lower so I wanted to have that option to make sure I don't have any expensive damage. i went for the slate grey neo and just love it.

Ceramics was my most expensive option but think I was just short of Ā£160k. Also went for the glass roof, again just because it lasts more light it and I can benefit from that all year round.

I did get PPF on the front bumper, side skirts and half way up the rear 1/4s and the piano black bits on the centre console. The rest had the ceramic coating including the wheels. I used Clark Aitken who has an excellent name up here in Aberdeen and whoā€™s dad started the R2 of the Porsche Club GB. Iā€™ve see in done badly but Clarkā€™s done a fantastic job and the cost? All in - Ā£1595. Delighted. Havenā€™t had to wash it yet but did put new media into my water purifier that I got about 10 years ago from Race Glaze.

There is a lot of talk about the rev counter lost in the 992.2. To be honest I didn't like the 2+2 dials in the 992.1 mainly because they were hidden by the steering wheel. So I much prefer the full electronic dash
