Heating

Dear All

Can you help?

Problem: The heating seems to be too hot for the set temp on the climate control, the only way I can keep the temp down is to have the AC on. I get the feeling that a thermostatically controlled vent is not opening or closing as it should.

My Indy has put the analyser (porsche) on which detected a faulty rear "blower" and is suggesting replacing a solenoid between the two sensors (?) but is not sure that the problem will be solved, if this is the case he will need to get the sensor repair kit and fit that.

Would I be better just to get the whole lot replaced and only pay once for the labour or does the above seem like a good plan?

Trouble is there are quite a lot of different parts to the heating system (eg various flaps that open and close on small motors / solenoids). They are in many different places within the car (I believe). You can't really "replace the whole lot" - well you could but would not be sensible option. The diagnostic system is supposed to be quite good at identifying the item causing the problem.

I'd let him do the job in the sequence he's suggesting, one at a time.

When I bought mine the OPC diagnostic system was indicating two faulty motors, which the dealer replaced.

Hi Roy,

Have you tried cleaning out any fluff from the grill on the CCU? Also, if you know anyone willing to let you try, swap the CCUs over and see if the problem follows the unit.

I've got one of Tor's units but not fitted it yet. I'll be redundant in a few months so that's a job for then along with LEDs, the missus has had me run ragged round the garden this year.
