Heater solenoid valves

I'm having difficulties getting my heating system to work properly.
After various tests I think the problem may lay with the heater unit solenoid valves.
I do have a couple of replacements. However access to the original items on the upper RH side of the heater is somewhat restricted. Does anyone have any suggestions how to carry out the work without taking out the complete dash. ???
