Heater not working

Both my heater and the blower have suddenly stopped working at the same time. Any ideas? I was told by Paragon Porsche that the heater unit is now obsolete and cannot be replaced. Any views if this is correct?

This may be a daft answer but have you checked the fuses engine bay and footwell one`s

There has been heaps written about this on the net. Control unit between the seats is repairable. Fordy has a good point, check all fuses and relays.

Be prepared for a long detailed read - very professional, without the local BS we have here.
Type 911 also have some good tips on their website - under electrical heading I think.
Don't be fooled into thinking these are complex things - it just a bunch of switches, relays, and motors. Keep em clean and oiled and it will look after you.[]

The heater has gone on strike because the snows coming...Brrrrr.

As said elsewhere - once you get the hang of it it is actually fairly simple! You really need to isolate what you haven't got - is it heat - H/E boxes open so either cables or autoheat control (servo rod etc) or is it blowers (blower control relay in engine compartment or footwell relay in front fuse box).

In my experience you will get heat without any blowers so if you're freezing check your H/E boxes and cabling (they're sprung open if cables broken) and the 'snap-on' connector at the autoheat box first

By the way you can buy anything you need - the autoheat controller is expensive even for a Porsche part but all the blowers / relays / cables seem to be readily available

Good point. I have to confess that I didn't realise there were fuses in the footwell. I will check them. Any idea how many relate to the heating?

As far as I remember there is one each side next to the blower in the footwells

My 3.2 also has no blowers or heater. Perhaps they were an optional extra? You could get them fixed, or alternatively drive with your windows slightly down and a sponge in one hand like me. Its not a problem from April through to October!
