heater control unit repair

Has anyone repaired a heater control unit out of an S2, mine went on the blink fan not operating at correct speeds and hit and miss temp control and position switches not working properly.I bought a replacemant of ebay which is fine, just wondered if they are fixable ?

Fan speeds (if missing all but #4) will probably be the fan speed resistors. They have always gone wrong though, even when the cars were <10yrs old.

Whether you can fix them depends on your ability to understand electrical gubbbins, I suspect.
 
Possibly just bad solder joints. I was able to revive my DME relay and the alarm fob by just resoldering all of the internal solder joints. Just need a soldering iron, some flux and solder and a lot of patience!
