Headlamps wont go down

I have the electric gremlins on hand causing my headlamps to go up when turned on and wont go down when I turn the lights off.
I have checked the motor,relay,fuses,light switch as all ok and wonder if anybody has ideas?

Mine wouldnt drop when the battery was low, I changed the battery for a new one and they worked again.

Battery is all working fine and not very old cheers

Wiring fault? It does wear with all the movement up and down.

Be very careful working on the lights. I'm sure you know, but it never hurts to mention it, that the mechanism is powerful enough to really hurt if your fingers are in the way.

Can you wind them down manually?

Is there anything blocking the mechanism? (I had a water pipe get stuck in the mechanism once on one of my 924S's)

Had an issue with mine last year when they wouldn't go down as the bonnet release cable had popped out of position and got caught in the mechanism. As soon as I freed the cable it was all back to normal.

Update today

tried another light switch and still not workng
tried another headlamp motor still not working
checked power to motor in off position all ok
checked power to motor in on position all ok
checked fuses all ok
nothing blocking or obstructing the mechanism

I wonder if there are any other checks that I could try if anybody can help

Have you checked the mech to see if it feels tight or jammed, try getting someone to switch on while you watch to see if there's any sign of movement. If so try moving the lights while third someone turns the lights on/off, also try lubricating the mech itself. Did it work manually?

Ok... Well since you have checked the motor,switch and the mech it must be the wiring. First thing I'd do is connect the motor directly to a 12v supply, can't remember the wiring but should be easy enough. If the motor's ok then the lights should operate, next use a multi-tester and check each wire from the switch to the motor for continuity, if the wires are ok then check all multi-plugs for dirty/broken connections.
