Hazard warning lights

A friend has a 2008 Cayman S and it has failed mot on inoperative hazard lights. They fitted new switch but still not working.
Is there a fuse or relay to check? Has anybody heard of this before?

If the fuse is OK, as Nick suggests, then you need to get a diagnostic check done. There is no relay for the hazard warning lights - they are controlled by the Front Control Module.
 
Thanks for that guys. Yes the indicators work, just hazards not working. Porsche were talking about new instrument cluster , what!!!!
 
I can't see it being the Instrument Cluster. The Hazard Warning Light Switch connects to the Front Control Module, and the lights are also connected to the FCM. The only connection between the IC and the HWLS is the one for the backlighting of the switch. Worst case scenario IMHO would be a FCM at £250+VAT.
 
That's good news Richard will pass it on to the lady. She was being told some frightening costs. Thanks for your help.
 
Peter, if you add your approximate location and region to your personal details panel as most of us in the Cayman Register have, then someone may be able to advise of a good, local non-franchised specialist[;)]
 
Thanks Kevan will do. She has booked it into local Porsche indy. Fingers crossed. Just to add its been on PIWIS and no fault showing.
 
With a PIWIS they will be able to check that the front control unit is reading the input signal from the hazard warning switch. If the module isn't reading the switch, then it is a switch or wiring issue. If it is reading, then it will likely be the module, but strange that there are no fault codes.
