I don't know about everyone else but I'm paying the highest car tax because of my 3.6 litres. If it was calculated on the CO2 emissions I'm pretty sure I would compare well to a lot of other, more 'normal', cars.

MOTORISTS are being urged to share their views on road tax with the Department of Infrastructure following changes introduced in April.
In addition, the department wants to know whether residents would support road tax being based on CO2 emissions, not engine capacity for all vehicles, after it was introduced for new vehicles.

The consultation documents are available online at http://www.gov.im/consultations.gov?menuid=16916&type=current or copies may be obtained from the department's reception at the Sea Terminal, Douglas.

Responses should be emailed to highways@gov.im, faxed to 686920 or delivered to the department's reception at the Sea Terminal.

The deadline is Tuesday, September 7, at 5pm.

There is another consultation document on 'Vehicle duty for Veteran Vehicles' for owners of older cars.
 
We've had a cottage there for 8 yrs but when I asked about registering our 3 cars there to save money ,the answer was -no.

At the time we were considering buying our cottage,some of the usual topics arose such as ;you should buy it using a company,you can register cars on the IOM etc-at the time my accountant here was asked & the answer was no to both queries.I have since investigated managing my business from the IOM as well & I understand that is feasable but generally need to live there rather than use the cottage as a holiday home.
Bit of a vague answer but I haven't bothered since.
Sorry I haven't been able to get to any of your IOM meetings recently,we just haven't been there when they have been arranged,but did get to marshall on the IOM rally last year,but missed by a weekend this year.
