Has PET got the ARB direction wrong?

Hi,

I'm referring to the two inner droplinks, which are "L" shaped and installed inverted. On my car the vertical part of the drop link is behind the two bolts that screw up into the floor pan.

PET shows the droplinks as being orientated the other way around: the vertical part of the bracket is in front of the two vertical mounting bolts.

I've sketched what I am describing onto the relevant page from PET. My car's brackets are installed as per the blue sketched representation

Can anyone confirm which is the correct orientation?

I think you are right Paul. The brackets go on so you fit the bolts from the front if I recall.

I'm not sure it makes much difference, provided the bracket is vertically mounted above the rollbar and not at an angle.

Regards,

Clive.

I have recently changed mine and the screws are at the front, opposite way around to the PET. That's not to say they haven't been messed with before though.

I just did ball joints on my '91 S2 and the brackets are oriented as per the PET. I agree with Clive - probably doesn't matter...or are the rest of us missing a free suspension tweak ....

I seem to remember trying the PET orientation and finding the bracket didn't sit very vertical.

PET contradicts the pictures in the Workshop Shop Manual, so who knows...

There is quite a lot of false information in PET. Drawings are not accurate. They used for example 944 drawings in 968 section of PET, when 968 part is totally different than 944 one.
