Hartech Bolton

Took the car to Hartech last Tuesday for the Gold Service and for them to give the car a good check over [:)]

There were a few other jobs that I wanted doing as the car has only done 3000 miles since its last major service by Camtune in 2007 so it was getting a new Cam belt and rollers plus a brake fluid change and gearbox oil change and a few other bits.

The car had a slight coolant weep which turned out to be the water pump so a new one is being fitted at the same time rather than letting it get worse (especially as we are gong to Germany in May) [;)]

Tobias from Hartech has rung me this afternoon to say the car is ready to collect tomorrow and all is now perfect. He has commented that the car is one of the most solid 944's he has ever seen and the fact it is low mileage and has spent it's life in a garage has helped to keep it this way [:)]

Just got the bill to pay now then I'm ready to add the Promax Stage One kit!!

Nice one.

It is a seriously impressive facility Baz has built up there. He took me on a tour of the place last Christmas, I thing many don't even realise that there is a factory and parts storage as big as the visible 9 ramp workshop bay.

Hi Martin, can you let us know the cost so we can "compare and contrast"?

The Gold Service is £550 + Vat but they do a full health check and highlight any work that is required imminently or in the future.

As they have the engine and brakes stripped down it makes any other work required cheaper due to having it in bits already [:)]

Really impressed with their attitude towards the older cars and there is no pressure to get jobs done if you don't want them to

Thanks Martin, good to know.

My uncle had his 997 in at Hartech a couple of weeks ago for a gold service and said the same. They gave him a shirt list of things that needed doing but could wait a year or two.

A Shirt list must be list of things that will cost you the shirt off your back?

The pricing is good though I paid about the same money for my 993 service at my local indie (RG Lewis)

Collected he car this afternoon and along with the Gold Service and other jobs the car had a full health check that is 5 pages long [8|]

The great news is that there was only one advisory on the list and this is a minor job that can be done next year [:)]

Martin still have not seen it, Ruddy has picked the Prince seat up.................you got that cheap so you owe me a pint !

Must be doing something right.

They have a reputation for making a good job of re-engineering the M96 Briggs&Stratton into something more like what Ferdinand would have created.
