handbrake light

Hi Guys,

I am having a small problem.....

I have replaced my handbrake lever but now my handbrake light on the dash wont go out...I have tried to adjust the switch but even if I short the copper switches together the darn light still stays on!!. It was working ok before.

Any ideas???

Tim,

Just an observation, but I would imagine the switch would have to "break" for the light to go out rather than "make". Shorting the pins would, I suspect, merely ensure that the lighgt stays on. Try disconnecting the switch and see if THAT makes the light go out.

Dave,

The switch 'thing' is just a bent bit of copper in a plastic housing. The rear of the handbrake has another copper piece. So you are probably right that the switch needs to break to turn the light off, But in my case even with the wire disconnected ie open circuit the darn light still stays on....

It is weird....

so either short across the two copper pieces or open circuit still results in the light staying on[:mad:]

I might diconnect battery and try that...

Its like its latched on...maybe if i do this it might work? possible but not holding my breath
