Guides/photos of a Porsche 944 engine bay??

Sorry if this has been asked previously but it is not the sort of topic which I can 'search' for on here.

Being a new 944 owner and not having a Haynes manual or the like I was wondering if there are any online resources explaining the different parts within a 944 engine bay and how some of the components work?

Any links greatfully recieved!

Thank you. [:)]

Don't waste your money on a new Haynes book of lies... ok, it is useful for an overview some-times, so pay a couple of quid for one second-hand by all means, but your best resource (apart from this forum) is "Clark's garage" http://www.clarks-garage.com/

And go to the "Garage Shop Manual" for the Haynes-like instructions.

Cheers, I have looked at the clarks garage site a few times already but its not quite what im after. Im no mechanic, what im after is sort of engine bay diagram showing and naming different components and how they interrelate.

Clarks garage does not seem to explain how things work (apologies if im just not looking well enough), more how to fix things which have gone wrong.

I think I need to appreciate how the different engine bay parts 'fit together' before I can feel confident fixing and replacing parts!

Cheers thats more like it but ideally it would be nice having one explaining how the components relate to each other etc. That one is a bit too basic if you know what i mean.

I think you need to read up into how engines work in general then. Wikipedia is great for that.

Yeah I will end up doing that. The only problem is that it is obviously not based around a 944 and I will need to try and identify where things are in the 944. (Im still looking for the gearbox [;)] )

The Lux engine is relatively simple:-

There are four suck, squeeze, bang, blows; some electrical stuff; some bits that do stuff with water and some other bits that do stuff with oil. There is stuff where the air comes in and other pipe stuff where the air goes out. There are pipes to stop petrol getting in the way until you need it and, just to confuse things, there is stuff in there that makes the car stop but has nothing to do with the engine.

All you really need to know is that it all works by magic but you must check that the elves that live inside have enough oil to bath in, petrol to drink and water to grow their plants - they use hydroponics you know.
