Good value membership & OPC Discounts.

Just had a call from the OPC to say my service is complete ... and guess what ? Ive 'saved' nearly £125 on the servicing cost by being simply being a PCGB member. That sounds good value to me - will cover 2 year's membersip - although the OH didn't quite see the 'saving' as positively as I did :)

I'd like to compile a list of OPCs who do offer discount for the FAQ page. It seems like it definitely isn't all OPCs who do this, so it would be nice to know which ones do, and what percentage discount they offer. If anyone has any experiiences, please add them here.

Ok then - Gary Sorreell your main man (for the 996 register) from the Cambridge OPC gave a talk at our last club night.
Straight from the hip its 10% of Part and 25% of Labour. However, there always has to be one for some reason,

P.S. I would have thought that something would have been issued by Porsche HQ at Reading giving a coperate rate across the board!

OPC Bristol do 10% parts and labour on production of the PCGB card - except subcon services like the MOT.

I'll answer my own question then.......I spoke the servicing dept at Nottingham Porsche Centre today and asked about discounts etc as I'm booking in for an annual check. They were receptive to this and stated they'd give 15% on parts but didn't currently discount labour. However and clearly with customer retention in mind I was asked to come back to them if I was given a competitive price elsewhere and they said would look at the pricing to see if they could keep my custom which is proactive on their part. I think its important to play on a level playing field. Nottingham OPC has impressed me with their service over the last 2 years and I remember good service and maintain a realistic loyalty. Its important as customers we remember good service as well as bad.
I will report following the service with a running report as it will mark a year of ownership of this car[:D]

I rang my Porsche centre in Leeds JCT, They said they could offer at least 15% off the standard service cost. 6000 mile service discounted from £370 to £300. I used the negotiation of, my car is now 8 years old and i'm considering using my local indipendent can you offer any discount plus i'm a PGB member.

I had my annual check yesterday at Nottingham OPC. They were very efficient, it was turned around in 90 minutes and the test drive of a C2S 997 was arranged as requested. Points of attention were pointed out to me, a sticking cup holder (I had to think about that one for a minute, YES they did mean the cup holder on the dash!) some minor cracks on the front disk, old news and they are within servicable tolerances and then the dreaded RMS............
Being the doubting thomas that I am (having no excessive oil loss, no stains on the carpet in the garage I got it on a ramp and had a look myself and yes there it was, a spreading oily patch at the seal but not yet to the point of a drip. Nevertheless its there. Having politely refused booking in to sort it (£963 to replace) I took the car back to where I bought it. And this is IMPORTANT. The owner of the Indie at 911 Sport who was absent when I showed up phoned me at 1810hrs last night and assured me it would be covered under the warranty I took out. I was pleased with his promptness and obviously put my mind at rest. 911 Sport incidentally would have been charging £580 for the same job (£400 cheaper than OPC). I highlight IMPORTANT because people are quick to complain and slow to praise. I have heard good and bad stories about OPCs as I have 911 Sport. What is for sure is if I am sorted out as promised I shan't hesitate to firstly say good things about them but also go back to them for my next car. I will update as the job progresses.

Now what is interesting is that I was told a few months ago that OPC's were now replacing them as "goodwill" - as long as the car is corrrectly maintained...[&:]

Good news at Reading OPC yesterday - 10% off parts (which I was expecting) but labour at £65 per hour as car older than five years (early 996). They normally charge £108 for 997's and £95 for 'off-the-street' 996 customers.
All the best
Des

This is very interesting.............my 98 C2 has a full service history, all but one stamp from an OPC - does this mean that they will replace the RMS free of charge?

This is in response to Mark Bennett's post above.
