Gearbox Oil Leak (Turbo - w/ Coiled Pipe Cooler)

Hi,

I've had this leak for a while, and have just kept topping up to avoid wear. It isn't very significant, but is annoying.

The leak is where the cooler pipe is 'plugged in' to the gearbox at the front / bottom, in a transverse direction.

I had a garage inspect it when I had the clutch changed last year and he said the pipe end is corroded, preventing a good seal. Does anyone have any experience of this issue, or advice on whether some machining could tidy it up enough to seal again. The replacement cooler pipe is about £450 from OPC

Hi Eddy,

I had this some years ago.

The garage is undoubtedly correct - the end of the cooler pipe corrodes away giving you the oil leak.

I had a good s/h one fitted and its been fine ever since.

Try Paul at PH Sportscars on 01332 799298 - they usually have these in and should be very reasonable on price.

Jon Mitchell can get them repaired with a new end piece, had mine done a few years ago,

Id be very surprised if PH has the cooler, as he doesnt have a gearbox. A repair is probably your best bet now.
