Deflowered?...Love it,,that car is the epitomy of there being none left in the bordello!

Well done Rich for taking it on track, did you stick with the current exhaust or switch it back to single after all?

On the basis that car is quick for a 64RS, I would definitely look at getting some instruction, once you start gaining confidence, you need to abide by all of the 911 driving rules with respect to braking and steering with this one.,,Have fun on track now you have discovered what it can do.

Yep - I did the Porsche Driving Experience yesterday afternoon at Silverstone. Around 1hr 45mins of intense instruction on the handling circuit and low-friction track. All the time spent on track - no classroom sessions and flip-charts - just lots of time driving hard.

I was surprised at how both mentally and physically exhausting it was. The circuit is really well designed with every bend purpose being to catch out the driver - double apexes, S bends with differing corners, gradually tightening bends, negative camber, positive camber, blind bends and crests. It's a great circuit and leaves you absolutely no time relax or dwell on the last corner as the next corner is already in your face.

I started off in a 997 C2S with PCBs, PSE, PASM etc, etc - with the instructor switching them on or off so we could experience how the car responds differently. Spent a lot of time on the handling circuit, then moved on to the low-friction circuit for some drifting and sliding around (and off the track at one point! [&:])

After that I was pleased (amazed) that they were happy for us to get my RS onto the track (with the cargraphic exhaust still on it too!). Christ these cars are good - and on the track it felt VERY different to bumpy A roads. [:)]

I really enjoyed the day. I found out (some of) what my car is capable of. Learned so much about where the limits are - where the car just starts to lose a little traction on certain corners - but all in a very controlled environment.

And then the instructor (Gavin Pyper) drove my car for a few very fast laps at the end. He wasn't going 10/10ths as he didn't want to over do it and crash it, but he really enjoyed the whole RS experience - loud, solid, no driver aids, just raw 'RS-ness'. He did 2 laps to 'learn' the car (steering responsiveness, ABS, brakes, throttle response, etc) then just drove quicker and quicker.

We then gave the RS a well-earned rest after about 1/2 hour of very hard driving on the circuit - and then a few fast laps back in the C2S finished off the day followed by a couple of 'show laps' at the end with Gavin basically drifting round every corner. [:D]

I saw Melv in Cheltenham last night for a couple of beers when I got back and I was still buzzing.

And Butzi has a new circuit sticker to go on it too... [:)]

Of all places Telford[]

Did you get sorted with a PET? Not got one but sure I could probably get one for you if not sorted yet.

Thanks guys. I got the PETs I needed from the Type 911 site - DDK pointed me in that direction.

For some reason the 2 PETs I was trying to download from the Porsche site classic section would download straight to my mac, but then wouldn't open due to 'encryption errors'. (both early 911 PETs)

Other PETs which I didn't need - e.g. 924/944 worked fine, and I already have the 964 PET. So I think there's a problem with the Early 911 PETs from the Porsche site.

C'mon Rich, a few laps around the PEC ain't exactly a de-flowering, look on it more as foreplay......[:D]
