Fusebox

Looks like i need a new fuse box,. the grommet that the indicator wire passes through was missing, hence water getting in the back of the fusebox, and a few corroded connections.

I own a 1982 944, what years can i use a fusebox from a another car, are Mk VW golfs compatable?

Anyone got a spare.

Try the usual breakers, i would go with a like for like to save any hassle, Sulzeruk,James Eaton (Only 9) Simon @Porsch a Part or Max at Frazerpart.

Dont worry about the year, just say you need one for a square dash. I think a Mk1 Golf would fit but I'd just go to one of the breakers Frenchy mentioned, there are others too.

Don't know about early 944 but I replaced the fusebox in my 924 it was a mk 1 golf part.

Thanks lads, ive sent a couple of messages to some of the breakers Frenchy mentioned. Not to sure how much is involved in the change over, i might get a auto electrician to have a look first.

It's really easy. you can pull the old one away from holder enough to line new one up next to it. Then you just work from old to new. Just don't unplug anything until the new one is beside the old one.

Hi guys....I must be missing something here. Just checked on Ebay with Golf Mk 1 fuseboxes on there and mine ('84 2.5. square dash) and there doesn't seem to be much similarity...... Any advice, suggestions (ps. changed my glasses earlier this year before you say!!) thanks

My advice is to get a good fusebox from the same model year of car. Dont try to cobble on a VAG part, no matter how similar you think it might be. Parts like this are virtually worthless, theres hardly any demand, so a decent breaker wont be charging a great deal. Its a shame that PH isnt interested any longer. Buttercup will sell you a good part, but he will charge for it. Alasdair would be a good alternative if he has a series one car from the right year... Simon

Bit late but a 924 fuse box will fit IIRC, the extra stuff for the ECU is controlled seperately I think
