Fuel Vapour Purge

I have recently been looking into removing the fuel vapour purge unit and how to do it. However after having a good look around today whilst rerouting my vacuum lines I think and I stress think I have come to the conclusion that I don't have one. There don't seem to be any vacuum lines going to my nearside wing for a start. Also when I looked at my J Boot there is an inlet or outlet on the right hand side that has been plugged. It looks to have been factory done as well in so much as it has a small blanked off hose fitted to it and the hose clips on it are standard Porsche. I know it was not fitted to some cars so is my car one of them? I am really hoping the answer is yes it will save me some work. My car was registered in early 1998. Can anyone please enlighten me???

I'm pretty sure you meant 1988, but we knew what you meant [;)]

It is around the 1988/1989 model year that they didn't have it. Mine is a 1988 model registered in January 1989 and it doesn't have it. I've seen earlier and later cars have it [&:]

[:D][:D][:D] When I was in the Army a dliberate mistake like that would have cost me a bottle of port for the RSM. The same rules don't apply here do they[:D][:D][:D]

Whats the benefit of removing this? Is thins the black canister on the drivers side at the bulk head? My car is 1990.

If you mean the one by the heater intake then that is your vacuum resevoir not the vapour purge unit. the vapour purge unit as I understand it is buried in the passenger side wing. There is no performance benefit however it simplifies your vacuum line set up in the engine bay. This has the advantage of less places where you can vacuum and boost leaks. I will also be looking at removing the cycling valve. I have a dual port wastegate and the cycling valve is redundant in this setup. It only serves to suck boost and vauum.

I'm afraid they do apply here Rob. And there is no leniency, particularly when you then mis-spell 'deliberate'. []

Bottle of port or decent single malt. Payable to me. Immediately. Sandemans or Caol Isla preferred. And don't do it again.
