Fuel pump electrical isolation?

POR1983

New member
I just found that one of the rubber mounts that hold the fuel pump to it's bracket has broken, I could fix it by drilling and fitting a bolt directly through the rubber mounting but the way the original mounting is designed results in the pump being electrically isolated from the bracket/body by the rubber mounts, does anyone know if the design is for electrical isolation or vibration/noise isolation?.

I only know the answer for sure if it's a 924 or early 944. If so, it's purely for noise isolation-nothing to do with the electrics.

My understanding is that it is isolation from the bodywork to prevent damage to the pump from vibrations and allow a certain amount of 'swing' or movement for the fuel lines. Standard practice with oil coolers etc is to mount them with the cotton reel type rubber bushes that the fuel is mounted with, don't think it's an electrical function.

Thanks for the replys, I will go ahead and put a bolt through the broken mount until I can get hold of a replacement.
