Front number plate holder - Cayman/Boxster

Quite a few of the GT4 chaps have gone for the stick-on numberplate option Philip. I think that a slightly downsized version is available for the front, and is still legal.

Personally I’m not a fan (too old school boy-racer for me!), and anyway I quite like the standard plinth, but each to their own.

I had the standard plinth on my 981 GTS and also have it on my 718 GT4 - I must be the only person who has though!

Anyone found any alternative front number plate holders for the 981 Cayman/Boxster. The OEM one supplied is pretty cumbersome and partially covers the lovely lines of the front grill. Wondering if anyone has put together/made an alternative?

I’ve kept mine as standard as it provides a small amount of protection to the front number in the event of a parking incident.

Yes, I nudge mine occasionally when pulling up to my Snap-on trolley in the garage.

Just to offer a counter view, I put a stick on one on mine as I think the plinth ruins the shape at the front. Each to their own.

Most bumpers have holes behind the plinth so probably need repairing before a stick on can be applied .

I also prefer the look of the stick on number plate, it is a subjective thing. Go with whatever you prefer.

Highgate House can make a smaller stick on plate that looks much better proportioned yet the letters / numbers are the correct size and the spacing is still legal.

Now that looks so good on a GT4 (in addition to the colour) and so right. The reduced white area makes a difference but it won't work with the GTS as the lower air intakes are a separate part and not integrated like the GT4. The curvature and bends also makes fitting a label number plate very difficult without getting folds in the plate. Maybe I need a short personal registration! Thanks for the 'Highgate' people though. Thand you, the Highgate plates come in different sizes and can also come with your local Porsche Centre logo and post code too.

I have also cut the edges off my rear plate, which I prefer as there is less yellow on the back of the car.

That’s a very tight fit Martin! I assume that your garage is L-shaped and you can open the driver’s door into the gap?

A professional-looking job trimming that rear plate.

It certainly is Jeff, although you get used to it. It’s actually a double with an annoying retaining wall at the front of the garage, there is just enough room to open the drivers door.

A friend of mine trimmed the plate for me.

This is a stick on plate on my GTS, standard size but then trimmed slightly along the bottom and the top edges. It needed care to get it on nice and flat, but easy enough with a bit of patience as you can move it a bit.

Like all appearances, whether you like it or not is personal choice. The plinth can, of course, be put back.

I like that John - looks good. Just need to find the right 'soft' number plate. The one hiccup is that I have a clear PPF on the whole front of the car which may be an issue with some of the legal stick-on plates if they need to be replaced/removed.

I'm looking for a stick on front plate for my 981 GT4 and the Highgate House website is not the easiest to navigate through. @Martin Davis did you contact them by phone to order the plate for your GT4 as I also have a six digit plate that I would like them to make up for me especially if they can add the OPC the car came from but I can't seem to find anywhere on their website a link for stick on plates. Hoping you or someone else can help? Thanks.

Yes they can send you a proof of how the different sizes will look. They can add your local Porsche Centre details including their postcode.

I would call Rick at Highgate House on 020 8341 9409, he was really helpful.
