Front Indicator/Dip Headlight fault

Hi, My S2 has developed a fault with the front driver side indicator and dipped headlight not working. I have checked the bulbs / fuses and they are fine. Although on reassembling the indicator and headlight pod they both started working for a short while before stopping again. Have checked for any loose/broken wires, with nothing obvoius and cleaned up the couple of earthing points I could find. The car has been stored for most of this year and required a jump start the last couple of times I took her out.

Any help greatly appreciated as MOT is due in 2 weeks.

Thanks

Faults like this can be very frustrating though it does look very much like a broken or chafed wire.

My own headlight stopped working like this a few years ago and was traced to a break inside the outer coating just where the loom appears from inside the chassis. Years of flexing when the lights go up and down had broken the metal interior but the outer plastic casing looked absolutely fine []

I second Paul's opinion. I bought a 944s with a non working headlight, and it turned out to be a broken conductor, broken at the point where the cables flex the most. Check all the receptacles in the indicator light plug, and the earth of the lamp body in its own receptacle. It does very much sound like a poor or intermittent earth to the indicator. Try connecting in a supplementary earth to the indicator and see if it works. If it does then you know for certain that you have an earth problem. You could also try the same thing with the headlight.
