For Sale - my 1985 944

If it's nice and solid underneath, you may do better getting the door handle sorted and getting a fresh MOT on the car and then putting the price up to reflect this.

At the moment the price is dangerously close to what you would pay for a rough example. You may also realise more funds putting the proper front end back on, the S2 front bumper is not to everyones taste! I noticed the rear rubbing strip is missing from the car - only a few pounds from a breakers and makes the car look "finished" rather than "work in progress". The wheels look like Borbet items which I believe, also may be worth a few pounds - put it this way, it'll cost you £100 for a set of Cookie Cutters and you're bound get twice that for anything in Porsche PCD (5x130) that aren't Cookie Cutters.

You could do with taking some decent photos, including the interior of the car as these are often not in very good condition. If your dash isn't too bacly cracked and the drivers seat bolsters aren't torn get some shots of those.

Totally agree with Pixie, my first thought on seeing the car was that the wheels really aren't 944 and need to go and I'm being polite.
So 1200 would be cheep but its 1200 plus a set of cookie cutters ( usually quite cheep) plus presumably the belts havn't been done in the last 4 years as you havnt said ? , so add 350 for them and you mentioned it has dents ?. There are plenty of tidy early 944's for 1500 to 1800.

At least you have been realistic with the price of your car some are craaaaaazy [;)]

Best of luck

Mas

Yes surely its at least worth sorting the door handle and getting an MOT slapped on her. Is bound to make selling at any price that much easier...

Yes I have never been too keen on the borbets, I'll try and get some cookie cutters. Thanks for all the feedback.

I'd agree with all the above comments. An MOT-failure car is an undrivable car. For the sake of a handle, or repair if you see the other thrad on this exact subject today, why sell it as the same MOT-failure status as a car for breaking?

Also, detail any mechanical work that's been done and when (time as well as mileage). People really want to know things like belt changes, how old the clutch is, that sort of thing. Not meaning they won't buy unless it's perfect, just that it gives an idea of what to expect, and budget for, in the coming years.

When I sold my Lux I included close up pictures of things like the inside of the sills, interior, and rust spots of paint flaws, anything that might dissappoint a viewer when they saw the car in the metal. It seemed to work, people appreciate you being totally open and giving them loads of detail before they travel to see it.
