For sale - 944 Turbo 250bhp

Its presumably it's there to stop you being able to take your kids to car meets ! On a serious note, lovely spec car but for my taste needs less pimped wheels and proper seats including a rear one. My kids love going to a car meet in a 944 even more than I do. Just in case you're wondering why people are commenting on the car , its in a discussion section not a for sale one so I hope you dont mind [8|] Mas

Looks great - and taking off the Pistonheads and N'ring stickers should add a few hundred quid also[;)]

Very sad news... Now on Ebay with head gasket failure.

Drew, nice car, but its not actually a correct S, too many switches ahead of the gear lever unfortunately but a nice late offset turbo. Good luck with the sale George

George, You could order an S with a sunroof if that's what you mean. It was on the options list. Definitive (or not) test is the M754 option code on the sticker apparently.

David, the special wishes dept would probably do you a flat front one too[:)], but a Turbo S definition is the non sunroof K26/8 250 engine, LSD, Big Brake, sunroof delete, forged CS rims, uprated syncro's, Koni M030, heavier ARB, as per the Silver Rose, however also in other colours later. Ideally with Sports seats, split rear seats, 8 speaker option. Then the Sunroof was respecified by Porsche UK for the 944 turbo, and some (not including myself) refer to it as the SE. Then they added a cat and removed the forged rims and the later cars were less special. I see an apparently nice G plate 944 turbo with a sunroof and some upgrades and don't consider it an S. George 944t

On a G plate this one may not be an S but an standard 250 car post S. Where's Simon when you need him - I still think a sunroof was on the options list for the S models - sure I've read it somewhere. Oh and that should read M758

It isnt an S, its what people have mistakenly started calling an SE. The Turbo S (Turbo with Special Equipment / SE in the UK) was a 1988 model year car and the option number was M758 (although it need not be Rose Silver, or be without a sunroof). M754 was the later Turbo Cup option number. Simon

Porsche called the post M758 Turbo S/SE cars '944 Turbo'. I too would remove the excessively large PH sticker because it looks lame - small is fine, but thats way too much. Id remove and sell the badge panel too, because Im confident that it does nothing to lower charge temperatures and it may even interfere with air flow through the intercooler. I have no issue wioth the scaffold in the back though! Simon

Bucket seats, a rollcage, no door pockets/pull handles and PistonHeads stickers will all say to someone who is nervous about taking a plunge into 944 ownership "tracked/thrashed regularly" Nice car though and if I were going back into the 944 fraternity I`d seriously look at it but nowhere near that price. PS: Its not an S its got a sunroof - I had an S - it had all the Silver Rose stuff and no sunroof but didnt have the plaid upholstery which is what I specifically looked around for until I found a good one.

Looks a great car, just with a limited market. Ben spent plenty of money on it & made some good mods. All I'd do is change the wheels (lighter + better tyres)

Thanks for the feedback chaps :) I have seen so many threads where the identity/correct title of the later cars have been discussed... I honestly thought that the majority of people referred to the later cars as 'Turbo S' simply because it was a 250bhp car. I shall amend accordingly. Regarding visual looks – it's all 'horses for courses' at the end of the day. You either like the what you see or you don't. Point taken about the Pistonheads sticker – this was simply placed on for a bit of fun when I attended a driving holiday around Scotland and has subsequently been removed. The Nurburgring sticker is staying, as to me its a badge of honour :). Every car should have one if it has survived the Nordschleife. But again, this is obviously EASILY removed if the new owner wishes... At the end of the day, the car is what it is – and as described, will only appeal to a certain cliental. Yes, it's not in original factory spec/look, but to me the car is all the better for it – that's why I bought it... Good condition/mechanically sound Turbos are as rare as hens teeth IMO. I looked at 5 'so called excellent condition' examples at the time before buying and it was THE best by miles. First and foremost I bought the car because of how mechanically sound it was, with body condition obviously coming in at a very close second. But as with all 944's I would be more concerned with the first and foremost before anything else. Anything visually non standard can be put but back to OEM quite easily... I can honestly say the car drives beautifully – far,far better than any standard 250 Turbo I drove and is ready to be enjoyed by it's new owner given the recent work. It's also a 944 where anybody of a tall disposition can actually fit in and drive comfortably. Please get in contact if you require any further information. Many thanks. Drew

I wasnt sure where to locate the Ring sticker on mine - I wanted it to be as discrete as possible, but thats harder on a 944. In the end I trimmed it and placed the GP circuit inside the U in Turbo, with the Nordschleife iver the Turbo and under the rear spoiler. Simon

When you edit the ad Id remove the link too. The car in the reproduced advert is a 1988 M758 Turbo S, and it has nothing to do with the later 250bhps cars, which people mistakenly call the Turbo SE. Simon
