Flexi's on m030

GPF

New member
Hi all,

I want to replace the flexible brake hoses with braided, but I believe there is a difference between my fronts (m030) and the standard fronts.

Is this correct, and if so, what is the difference?

The info on the only braided set I can find for m030 says that they may need to bypass the short hard pipe from the caliper to the strut...

Thanks in advance.

a couple points to consider:

the rear hoses are standard across all later model 944's - FYI I have a brand new pair available if you want them ?

the front hoses: you can use longer than standard ones, loop them through the retaining hole or fork on the strut, failing that use ones that the same length that then connect to the hard pipe connecting the calliper to the strut. With the later option, the configuration or connexions at either end is the same as the rear pipes - just slightly longer.

There is also the issue of corroded solid pipes around the car to consider. Unless your car has been dry stored andor very well cared for many of these will be corroded and needing replacement, now is a good time to replace them.

front and rear braided can easily be bought via fleabay, but cheaper still by asking ur local hydraulic fitter ( e.g spectrum hose high wycombe ask for paul rutter) to make them up for you. Ref. The hard pipes, length of cupra nickel and metric fittings (approx £15) local motorfactors, flaring kit machine mart (£20) jobs a good 'un :)

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that - just back in.

Just wondered why I couldn't find any braided direct replacements for m030.

I was already contemplating taking them off and getting the local hydraulic guys to make some up so I'll probably do that.

I think all the hard pipes are good.

Cheers

you can buy ready made sets even for the M030 set up, i have one on my car, not sure why none of the suppliers uve looked at don't list it. As I said before I have a brand new pair of rears which aren't needed ?

For what it's worth I got rid of the hard lines that were badly corroded and fitted non-M030 braided lines a the front.
The car isn't seeing the track though...

So is that the difference? That the m030 front flexis should be shorter and have female fittings at the caliper end?
