Happy New Year!!
The replacement part has arrived (thanks Bert) and now to fit the thing!?
I watched a youtube clip of a German guy fitting it from below. He mentioned you can fit from above (my only option).
Any advice welcome, or sites to go for help....

Thanks in advance, and have a safe and happy 2012!

Regards
Donald

I had 'issues' with mine last year - http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=647044&mpage=1&key=radiator%2Cswitch&#647044

I've got 1983 2.5L and IMO the only way to do it is from the bottom. Also, given the issues I had, whilst it would be a bigger pain in the ass, I'd certainly consider taking the rad out to remove the switch. It's so close to the spigot for the top hose on that side that you can't get a spanner on properly and would risk cracking it as I did. There's just no room in there!

Not sure if you have 2.5 or 3.0L and if different on the 3.0L?

Good luck

Cheers
Andy

I did it from the bottom too. I thought it would be impossible from the top, unless you removed the rad, which you need to get underneath to do anyway!

I maybe possible if it is a 2 pin sensor (ie NOT aircon) and you have a 30mm cranked open ended spanner.

10 minute job from underneath with a long reach 1/2 socket. Just be careful of the shower of coolan when you take the switch out!

Use PTFE tape on the threads - ensures a seal without mahoosive tightening which can wreck it.
