Put my Car into Dove House Yesterday for its first Service & MoT, and boy is it going to be a big one!
http://www.dovehousecars.com/
Got a call yesterday saying it had passed its MoT but there were a long list of advisories, which we looked down and decided on what we would do:
ARB Drop link worn - I will do
Brake & fuel hoses have surface corrosion - they will clean up and underseal thoroughly
NSF Wheel bearing - replace - too worn to tighten
Front Disks & Pads - They will do
Rear Disks near limit- I will do
Brake Fluid Change - they will do 3 years since last
Coolant change & flush- they will do 10 years since last!
2 Front tyres
DH called me this morning, I asked them to look into a strange clatter for the first few minutes after starting from cold...it turns out my Cambelt was so loose it is flapping around in the casing until the hydraulic tensioner wakes up and partially tensions it...it could have let go at any moment! so another £500 goes on the bill then...
On the plus side I have been invited by the Chief Tech to go down later today and have a coffee whilst he shows me around the car on the ramp and we discuss a maintenance regime going forward. He likes to do this with all customers who show an interest in the mechanics of their car and ensures that they are managed/preserved properly, excellent service
(Note: I know the owner of DH fairly well and he has had 3x 968CS, including the ex-OPC Silverstone Speed yellow one)
Hopefully this will mean that the car is set up for a year, I have done 6,000 miles in 4 months so far, and all of the above items could have been needed on any modern car with 106,000 miles on the clock (and probably cost more)
