First day of some grip in 2010..

I had a SAR de-cat fitted before Christmas, and today was the first day I could rev the engine to 5000 rpm without the distinct possibility of facing the car behind me..roll on Spring..trackdays..

I've really enjoyed the snow, not much chance to get the tail out (on a private road of course) in a 944S otherwise. I have been experimenting with handbrake turns and scandinavian flicks this year, great fun [:D]

Am looking forward to giving the white car a run soon though.

I've really enjoyed the snow,

I know what you mean, but as our house is in Tilehurst, I've thrown many a worried glance looking out of the window at work in London, wondering how long it will take to get home that night. The local council spent it's entire budget on re-cycling bins and presumably fact finding missions on Green issues in the Bahamas, so all the lesser local roads are ungritted (& salt is sooo bad for the environment. As opposed to piled up wreckage).

The fun definitely pales when the snow in front of you is Volvo 850 bonnet height... My record journey was 21 December. Left work on the dot of 17:30. Arived home 01:15..that first beer tasted good.

It's quite rural round here so I guess I've been lucky, there hasn't been much gritting going on that's for sure but at least the traffic has been fairly low. The worst this year for the commute of 6 miles was about an hour and a half, but it was a fairly exciting journey!

took mine out for a quick blast this afternoon - bit too foggy tho, but fun.
just fitted clear indicator lenses and new central cubby hole thing to replace cassette tray, and they needed "road testing"

If the weather is as good tomorrow as they say it is then I have to take the car for a blast no question. I am having withdrawl symptoms and she surely needs her legs stretching. I think I'll take a drive up to Cambridge way, unless someone can suggest me something orifginal for North East Herts. The road to Baldock isn't original by the way :p

Yes I'll be stretching the legs of my car tomorrow at some point all being well. Have hardly had a chance to really explore the joys of KW suspension since I had it fitted and hopefully will get a chance to blow the cobwebs both from the car and myself in the promised Sunday sunshine. She certainly needs a shake down before the Rutland meet up in a couple of weeks time.

The Shillington/Higham Gobian and Shefford/Old Warden areas are a favourite playground of mine. Also eastward around Saffron Walden.

I was planning on taking the long scenic route to work tomorrow in the white car as its first proper run in ages, but after parking onto our steep drive tonight I went to leave it in reverse (I never trust handbrakes) and the linkage must have come out. I'm now going to have to try to get under the car without jacking it up which isn't going to be easy (the drive is steep and the car's low). It's blocking in three cars so I'm not going to be terribly popular if I can't get it sorted tomorrow morning [:)] Grrr []

I just did a bit of googling looking for a cafe open up Cambs way on a Sunday. I was suprised to see that the Silver Ball Transport Cafe on the A10 is not only still going but opens on a Sunday ( according to th web) . Im going to do as planned but stop off for Tea and a Bacon Roll just as we did used to do in 'The 80's' . I 1st went there in 1981 or 82 on a Fizzie if anyone knows what that is. We used to go there as it was a good run with no motorway and of course we were all on L plates. I drove past it a couple of months ago and next door had a 928 for sale but I couldnt stop as it was an urgent trip to the vets.

Cheers Mas

Yammy Fizzy? FS1E??? good on yer! Was it a restricted one or had tyou sorted that? I leapfrogged the 50cc and went straight for 100cc Suzuki, as it would do nearly 70.... this is "off thread" now!

I will be heading off shortly down to Thame and back, for a run out and visit some freinds - probably via Buckingham, Bicester, that way (in the '44, not on a fizzy).

Turned into quite a fun morning, with great relief I can just fit under the car (better not have any more pies though) and it was the bolt on the short shift kit that had come lose so a nice quick fix. Took it for a drive around the block and it was still running badly. Decided the catch tank was getting a bit full so went to empty it (which means taking off the air filter and MAF) at which point I discovered the MAF was covered in emulsified oil residue that must have got past the catch tank. So the electrical issue I've been chasing in the MAF wiring was a red herring. Took it for another spin and it was back to rude health, spitting flames as it dispatched a couple of dawdlers (I swear it has a sense of humour). All that's left to do is to is to work out why the wideband is giving readings of complete gibberish, but that's a job for another day.

Well I put about 100 miles on the clock today, Weedon - towcester - buckingham - aylesbury - thame - oxford, then home via A34. what fun! roof down all the way.
Mas, hope the Silver Ball lved up to expectations?

£2.80 for a bacon sarnie and a cup of tea. Not a problem if the tea wasn't the thickness of dishwater and the sandwich in that horrible tasteless thin white supermarket type bread [:'(] Enjoyed the driving experience though.

Cheers Mas

My Fizzie was genuinely a remarkable beast as we had a local racing parts supplier in Barnet who was truly skilled and I think I had morre patience then. Also I had far too much spare cash for a 'boy' of 16 as I did work quite a lot from 13 years old. I wish I had as much spare cash now (and patience)

I got my 1st speeding ticket on a Fizzie and its a really good story but I'll save it for the pub , maybe on the 31st is someone asks [:D]

Cheers Mas
