First 12K-mile Service - What To Expect?

I'm just a few weeks away from my first 12K-mile service on my MY03 2.7 Boxster. Does anyone know what they do for this service? Is it just an oil change? Also, does the car feel better after a service or is it unnoticeable?

My previous car (a Merc) used to feel brand new again after each service.

[X(]Rumba ... First Service is a while you wait job, if you request this.
Takes under an hour usually, providing you just want the bog standard
oil/filter and plug in PC for good measure [:D].

Does the car feel any better after!!

What's feeling wrong with your car? and changing oil/filter etc
won't make squat diddly difference to how the car feels
before/after :ROFLMAO: but your wallet will definitely be feeling
a lot poorer [;)]
 
They only change the oil filter if you ask them to on the 12K service. It is not due to be changed until the 24...

I would ask them to change it - it is cheaper than the pollen filter which gets changed every time[8|][&:]

I once read in a technical engineering journal a very interesting article
that claimed modern synthetic oils are so good they could go on
for many years and tens of 1000's miles before needing to be changed.

The fly in the oilment [:D] is the Filter! not the oil.

So if that's all true it would appear not changing the filter, as I wrongly
thought Porsche do, makes the Oil service a waste of time and money.

My brother runs a 320SLK and it's servicing is every 20 or 24000 miles
(can't recall which) or 2 years.

Now that makes more sense to me than Porsche just changing ones oil
at 12K but leaving the weak link in place ie The Filter..

Okay, thanks for the replies.

So what do they charge 300GBP for ??? If it's an hour than OPC's labour rate of 85 GBP per hour including VAT still leaves 215 GBP left for parts. How much does an oil and pollen filter cost?!
 
Should be nearer 200 I think...

Oil is about 100 from the Dealer (so a nice markup for buying in bulk...) and the Pollen Filter is about 15.

Oil filter is nearer 10.
 
Got a quote from Porsche Centre West London yesterday - 297 GBP which includes a 10% discount for being a PCGB member. If anyone knows of a London or nearby OPC that does it close to 200 GBP then i'll take it there instead.

Interesting. Porsche Center Reading (also ex-AFN) declined to honour the club discount for my 24000 mile service a few months ago. "We don't do that anymore"[:mad:]
 
I called a saleswoman and she checked with the service manager. The 10% discount is off parts only - not labour. I wonder if the Mobil-1 counts as a 'part'?

[:D]Bought mine from Costco's and saved even more than that ... It was on special offer for something like £4.00 odd per litre [:D] Have me about 36K miles worth in stock

They have some great deals in Costco's every so often..........

They DID have the origin blue1 for £305 but offer has finished i think
Bosch silver batteries at V low prices
Shammys (pair) huge for £8
2 x 1 ltr STP injector cleaner for £8, use 250ml every 3k
And the various liquid golds of course
Tyres, have been recommended as V cheap

A mate ordered tyres for his daily runner, out of stock, in tomorrow, went next day, didnt arrive so they phoned him day after, he went round to have the 4 fitted.....Cost ........FREE, sorry for your inconvenience Sir !!!! [:D]
