 They only change the oil filter if you ask them to on the 12K service. It is not due to be changed until the 24...

 I once read in a technical engineering journal a very interesting article 
 that claimed modern synthetic oils are so good they could go on
 for many years and tens of 1000's miles before needing to be changed.
 
 The fly in the oilment [

] is the Filter! not the oil.
 
 So if that's all true it would appear not changing the filter, as I wrongly 
 thought Porsche do,  makes the Oil service a waste of time and money.
 
 My brother runs a 320SLK and it's servicing is every 20 or 24000 miles
 (can't recall which) or 2 years.  
 
 Now that makes more sense to me than Porsche just changing ones oil 
 at 12K but leaving the weak link in place ie The Filter..
