Ferdinand's signature

I recently wrote to both the Porsche Factory in Stuttgart, and the Porsche Design Studio in Austria. I enclosed photographs of the car, and a copy of the photograph of F.A. Porsche signing the car and the letters basically asked for confirmation that the signature on the back of my car is that of Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche.

I thought it would be useful to have official written confirmation and interesting for the replies to be included in the cars history file.

For those who may be interested, I've copied the replies below... [:)]

Dear Mr. Claridge,

We thank you for your kind letter which has been forwarded to the Historical Archives of Porsche.

With pleasure we can confirm that the signature on the engine cover of your Porsche 911 Carrera RS is from Mr. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. This is a very nice detail on your car because F.A. Porsche "" as you will certainly know "" was the designer of the first Porsche 911 which was presented in 1963.

Besides this, your 911 Carrera RS is a very rare piece of Porsche history. It was the successor of the legendary 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (1973) and was built in only 2282 units.

Yours sincerely,
Dieter Landenberger
Manager Porsche Historical Archives.

Dear Mr. Claridge,

We thank you very much for your kind letter.

As far as we can see in the picture, it is the original signature of Professor F.A. Porsche. You are a very lucky man to posess such a rarity. Congratulations!

We hope the Carrera RS will please you for many years.

With best regards,

We would also say that even greater prominence has been given to the car by it's previous owner Herr D. Sturdee known Worldwide as "Carreraboy" he is probably the finest Untergruppenfuerher of this the greatest Porsche we have ever made. Frankly we are embarrassed as to the churning out of big fat a**e GT3 kettles, but it's what the accountants want, if only we could still make the 964RS.

Yours sincerely,
