A bit excited like a kid going to buy a new bike. Will take photos and try and post later. Thx Roy
Ps. I've read a lot about nuts and bolts breaking etc, if anyone is able to send me the part numbers of the nuts, bolts or brackets that I may need, that would be very helpful. Many thx!

I just used the old clamps and put better stainless nuts and bolts through.

Morning all, going to get my bypass mod done today ........
A bit excited like a kid going to buy a new bike. .......
As you should be, it is a very childish thing to do. EXCELLENT!!!!!! [
Went for the 1 inch tube as I wanted it just abit more throatier!
They did a great job, I had an existing bypass tube done by a previous owner but was approx 1.5 cm in radius. Took lots of photos but not sure how to post them...will ask Richard for advice. All in all it took 3 hours to do. Good job on the tig welding and also in the taking off and putting back on! Really pleased and only £200 all in.
Thanks Roy
Here goes, wanted to post yesterdays events getting my bypass mod done!!
When I got my 996 C4S approx 6 months ago, I thought to myself
"Roy.................... be sensible...it's a nice car, just drive it, enjoy it..Porsche make some nice cars so things on it will be more than enough for you".
Well a week onto the forums and I had had my wishlist started, proper geo setup from CG, a couple of check-ups from indies to make sure I hadn't bought a lemon and a few visits back to Cridfords to get stuff sorted that they seemed to mess up along the way (all resolved though thanks to Jeff). Top of the list though was a more sporty note from the exhausts. I was told that the car had a sports exhaust....stay with me and I'll show you how sporty it was!
Had the usual pain that those who don't buy from an OPC experience....The dreaded "Do I buy an aftermarket warranty, and ifso, where do I get it from??, i wish Hartech were in London type of woes"
Anyway, after trying to do a fair bit of research on the bypass mod and reading GT4's superb posts on 911uk, I decied to go with the 1" bypass but didt fancy doing the 50 odd miles to get to H&S in Essex...There had to be somewhere closer that could do a a good exhaust mod given that I live in Hounslow, the land of mark1 VW GTi mods!!
Anyway, after a couple of months of research, still no joy!
A quick chat with a guy in Kwik Fit suggested I try a place called Styledynamix in Hayes, approx 3 miles away from me... So I did!! Also spoke to Sid from RSJ who said that he knew them so that instilled me with some confidence!
I spoke to Arif who's the mgr, went to visit them with thread links and photos in hand of what I wanted doing and we agreed that I would turn up on Thurs at approx mid day!
I got there at 12 o'clock a bit confused about what diameter to go for but a quick chat with our resident guru Mr Hamilton reassured me that 1" was what I needed, a bit louder but nothing head turning...abit too old and ugly for that whole stuff!
Immediately, Arif explained to Craig and Aslam what needed doing and they were away with WD40 in hand.

Once the boxes were off which took about 30 mins (that was lucky as all brackets and nuts were new) I saw my Sports box, the bypass was what can only be be described as a couple of straw-like diameter pipes that probably had no effect at all.

Old bypass mods were duly removed by the guys and new ones put in place before the TIG welding took place... They said it was harder to remove and re-attach as the weld wasn't holding as well as they'd like ............and hence their not so entirely happy clean job! But it looked OK to me.

Car getting put back together and they straightening the tailpipes as originally they were not sitting right!

All in all, it took the best part of 3 hours, they took their time and were nice and gentle with the car!! Craig, Aslam and Arif did well . Highly recommened and fairly well priced. They used good grade stainless steel and are longlife agents which I'm told is good. Sounds so much better than before!!

Can you do this mod on a stock 2001 996 C2? I have always thought the standard exhaust sounds a little 'timid' and nowhere near as nice as the sound my 993 makes!
Yes you can.
The principle is the same. My friend did the mod on his Boxster. Worked a treat
