Hi all,
on Friday the 28th November 2014, at 7pm, you are invited to the R30 Porsche Slot Racing Evening being held at the Manx Slot Car Club near Ronaldsway Airport.

The evening will consist of an initial practice session on the Balla-Yorkley circuit, and then all drivers will have a qualifying heat on each of the 3 lanes. From these results the drivers will go into step-up finals, C-Final, B-Final, A-Final etc. Cars will be provided and will be Porsche GT1's. This will be a fun evening, please don't worry if you haven't done it before, there will be time to practice and get used to driving the cars. Please see the photos below of the cars and tracks.

For those of you who are just thinking of going up into the attic looking for those long lost Scalextric cars....... if you want to try your own cars on the track please feel free to bring them down.

Hope to see you all there.

This event took place last Friday and seemed to be enjoyed by all. The Manx Slot Car Club members had assembled a collection of Porsche Slot Cars of all different types and in all sorts of racing liveries. There really are some fantastic models available nowadays from both Scalextric and other manufacturers from Spain, Italy, Germany etc.

The evening started with a practice period, to let people get used to the cars and the circuit, and then there was a Team Race. The teams were made up from both Porsche Club Members and the Slot Club's members. There were 3 lanes on the circuit and the cars stayed on their lane, with each driver driving each car for a 3 minute period. This ensured that there was no car or lane advantage, it was all about the driving.

There was some close racing in this, and after each driver had driven all 3 lanes the total number of laps completed by each team was totalled.
The Team Race was won by Team GT1, which consisted of Pete Hopkins (PCGB), Julian (PCGB) and Andy White (MSCC) with 150.76 laps. The runners up were Team Carrera, who were Nigel Wilshaw (PCGB), Steve Morrow (PCGB) and Dave Capelen (MSCC) with 149.69 laps. Just 1 lap difference after all that racing!

Now that the Porsche Club Drivers were used to the cars and track we had an individual race. The racing was really close again, with Julian being on the top step of the podium having completed 31.59 laps. Nigel was runner up, with 31.06 laps, just half a lap behind after 9 minutes racing. Both drivers were presented with a lovely Autoart Porsche 911 slot car. They are probably up the attic now looking for that old Scalextric set to run it on! [;)]
