You might try to clean the track by removing the plastic cap of the unit, which means removing the joint and then the screws, although good results are not always guaranteed.
I had this problem a couple of times but good B-road thrashings have always cured it ... [
Have a look at your spark plugs too.
Both can be cleaned with carb cleaner (the stabilisation valve sits under the inlet manifold between 1 and 2 inlets - on an S2 at least).
As well as stabilising the idle nicely it solved an intermittent hot-start problem.
I still have a shunt sensation at constant 30mph in 3rd that could be the air flow meter though, but that' s been diagnosed as drive shaft joints as well [&:]
