Engine transplant (again)

I know this isn't strictly the right place to post this but... I have a mate who wants rid of a 924 that has engine issues so I gave it the once over and it does seem a good one apart from spaceship miles and a very noisy engine!
So I was wondering if anyone on here has heard of a conversion done using the VW 20V turbo, I like the idea as it keeps the whole thing in the family and I can create a turbo replica that actually has a turbo!
Anyway you opinions would be good.

Massive job which needs large engineering to address the differing bolt patterns and the need to rotate the block. Its a non-starter.
 
No need to rotate the block, as VW 20v is an inline engine [:)] Probably still a lot of work though, but those are excellent engines and would love to see how a 944 performed with a well tuned one....... I was always tempted to keep the engine from my old 1.8T Passat and wedge it in a Locust.
 
Just think how good it would look with a massive 'power hump' in the bonnet - probably wouldn't be able to see anything past it though !
 
Same bloke used to have an UR Quattro but I doubt you could squeeze that monster in!
I know it would require adapter plates and possibly a torque tube making up, easily outsourced and as far as wiring it in I suppose you must be able to get engine bay looms from the vw tuners as this is a common engine to fit in mk2 golfs, but thats the easy stuff! The engine mounts and physical size are the bits that worry me as the only way to do it for the first time is to just do it and that could be a costly mistake.... Oh well I may have to get down to the local breakers and cast a tape over things and if it looks close try and convince him to hold onto the car until I can price all the bits up (it might just be cheeper to buy a turbo) but thats too easy for me [:D]

An inline five cylinder AUDI engine will bolt straight up to a 924 Turbo torque tube. It all fits relatively easily, but costs a small fortune. A four cylinder 1.8l 20vT is relatively cheap, but it wont fit without a lot of skilled engineering.
 
Speaking of clutches, Porsche hydraulic clutches work the opposite way to everyone elses, which adds another obstacle. You can get around this by adapting a hydraulic thrust bearing from a Mondeo or similar though.

I suspect that reverting to a 2.0l 924 cross member will allow the 1.8l 20vT to mount easily and a 931 bellhousing and 944 torque tube will probably locate the 5cyl AUDI engine.
 
Just to interject - IF that black 944 is the same 944 I'm thinking of, it's actually using a Toyota Supra gearbox mounted normally directly behind the engine.

ive fitted a lexus 4.0 quad cam 32 valve in my s2...
