Engine randomly cutting out?

Hi all, i have just got my 944 back from servicing and for the first couple of drives all was well, but over the weekend (long drive to north wales and back) a weird fault developed. The steering starts to feel heavy and a few seconds later the engine just cuts out. It happened twice over the weekend and on both occasions i was slowing to stop for some traffic lights and so shifting down the gears.

I have had a problem with the idling for sometime, where every so often the engine almosts stalls before recovering, this varies in severity but has never led to the engine actually cutting out. Has this problem got worse and it is this leading to the engine cutting out or is it something else?

Cheers
Sid

I take it its an S2 Cab you have Sid...?

It has an idle air control valve.. If you look at the PDF manuals and go for P204 of Vol5 48A its in the wiring diagram. I know from other motronic (GM) cars that the ICV has a habit of sticking as blowpass from the sump breather system cloggs it up. If you spray carb cleaner into the ports and leave it overnight and blow it out using an airline it should be grand.

Where it is physically I havent a clue... Any S2 owners experience this..?

yup, its a S2 cab. I had a suspicion it might be something like that - will need to have a quick look at the manuals

I had something similar recenently, cutting out randomly. It seems to have been cured with a new DME relay (about £30 from OPC). IRf there is anyone local you could try a quick swap to confirm.
